With Linkedin, Gmail(personal), Outlook(work),Facebook, Plaxo, Myspace and several ning groups(RBC is #1) what is the best way to consolidate 5,000 contacts? I’m looking to merge information into one location. Ideally, this “hub” of contacts could be sorted or searched? It was suggested to me to try Plaxo Premium but they just eliminated the Linkedin sync feature. Spokeo was also an option but the first free trial down load was not impressive. I would think that some kind of “tricked out “Excel Spreadsheet. This seems like a lot to ask from a “tool” and I’m willing to put work into it. Suggestions?

Ed,
I'm using Outlook express which integrated with Plaxo and will download from vcards, gmail, integrate with blackberryy, etc., I also bought egrabber which allows me to cut and paste quickly in to the database.

Ed,

I read this post, and while our product, Recruiting CRM, currently allows you to import contacts from LinkedIN, Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, Outlook, ACT!, Plaxo, and any spreadsheet document, I wanted to check with one of our lead developers to see about MySpace and Ning. I spoke with him this afternoon and he confirmed that it's possible but we just haven't seen anyone else ask for it. So while today we're missing 2 on your list they will be there soon. Once they're in there they are indexed for searching, tagging, etc.

Cheers,
Mike
You can import contacts into networking tools like Jobster or search tools like SourcePoint which both contain a CRM to manage contacts. Jobster will pull directly from LinkedIn or Outlook, whereas SourcePoint you would need to import them from a spreadsheet.
You also might try the new Flock browser - that allows you to use multiple sites without having to consolidate. You should also look at social poster if you're looking for a way to publish to all of those sites.
Great question and if you find the solution you will be a rich man. Let me know what you come up with.
