More and more employers are finding that hiring older workers is cost effective. They bring an excellent work ethic and good experience. Hiring them on a part-time, project or temporary assignment basis has turned out to be a win win for both parties. Of course there are still a number of areas where full time jobs are still appropriate like: pharmacits, researchers, chemists, nurses and health care workers, cashiers, call center and other help desk jobs, etc. I note that even fast food companies like McDonalds has started hiring older workers in behind the counter positions.

I would be interested in hearing from employers who have successfully utilized older and retired workers in their workfroce.
