Another ATS comment requested
A friend of mine just started with a company and wants an ATS system, but feels that Taleo is too complex for what he needs. He is considering Maxhire, but Maxhire said that their program is not designed for in house recruiter/HR people, its designed for 3rd party recruiters only.
What might be some other ATS programs that an internal recruiter could use?
He wants to store resumes, keep track of employees, manage job openings, manage contacts etc. He doesn't need all the other HR pieces that an internal HR person would need.
He looked at PCrecruiter but didn't care for it.
Suggestions would be much appreciated.

As Finkel recommends: use a simple, off the shelf CRM system. ACT! is a good choice. You can customize it to do about anything you want with little or no knowledge up front. There are a ton of 3rd party suppliers out there that can even customize it for a fee directly to a recruiting solution. It's simple, easy and least expensive. I chose Goldmine because it is a little more robust, but that was before they changed their pricing and today it is not conducive to a single user environment.
