I have several solid passive candidates who I would like to market to companies but I have never been successful at it in the past. I have identified companies who have a need but have never been able to get my foot in the door.

Any suggestions on your best approach method to a company where you would like market a candidate would be appreciated.

Jason,

I've had good luck with this approach when contacting hiring managers directly, not so much with hr. Usually most success when the candidate is out of a direct competitor or has something unique in the background, a difficult skill set or degree from MIT for instance. Also, if you see that they have a need that matches, mention the person's background, Star candidate, 5 years of experience, Computer Science degree from MIT.

Good luck!

Jason,

If you haven't used it before, I would tap into your network and find a copy of the "Morgan Method Situational Guide" - this guide is part of a $1000 package that teaches you the best practices to follow in the recruiting industry, and this includes scripts to modernize and professionalize all of your communications with clients and candidates. It also includes a very helpful "Marketing a Candidate" script that is very effective in getting your foot in the door.

Hope that helps!
