I've recently ventured into independent recruiting and I was looking to give BountyJobs a try. After signing up I am told that there is a waiting list of about 8 weeks to receive some sort of access code. Does anyone know how I can speed up the process or other alternatives?

Lou- Thx for the chat this morning. While I have no intention of endorsing one model over another, I applaud you and your honesty. This is what this industry needs from its leaders.

As the founder of RecruitAlliance I think I can address several of the issues expressed on this blog. RecruitAlliance was founded by recruiters and all of our employees with the exception of our developers are ex-recruiters. This is important since we understand how difficult the business is and we believe a network such as RecruitAlliance has to be a Win/Win for both the employers AND recruiters. As a recruiter you don't need another partner. That is why over $100+ Million in fees have been paid to recruiters on RecruitAlliance since our founding and NOT ONE dollar of those fees is taken by RecruitAlliance. Recruiters on our website bill the employer directly and get paid directly and more importantly YOU KEEP 100% of the fee. We also do not encourage low fees on our site and discourage any employer from posting low fees. We tell prospective members that RecruitAlliance will not and should not replace your own marketing efforts but are simply another means to leverage your business. Additionally we are a split network for recruiters and you set your own fee and split 50/50 with the other agency. All jobs posted on RecruitAlliance by the employers are posted by the employer and are REAL JOBS.

Now let me address some of the concerns agency recruiters have. One issue that is paramount in the recruiting business and will always be an issue whether working with a client via RecruitAlliance or on your own is speed of response from the employer. Unfortunately this problem has no easy solution. Each of us has worked with clients directly who have tested our patience and many of us have walked away from some of these clients because of their lack of urgency. There are numerous reasons why this happens but nevertheless it is extremely frustrating for the recruiter who is getting calls from his candidates regularly looking for an update. On RecruitAlliance we have in place a protocol for updating the employers as to the length of times referrals have been made and after a certain period of time has elapsed we contact the employer directly and insist they update the job and review referrals. Is it 100% successful, no but it does move the process along in many cases. Each of our job orders lists the real time stats on number of accepted/rejected candidates so you can make an informed decision on whether to even begin to search on a job as well as several other innovative tools. We have found that companies who respect the role of the agency recruiter in the recruiting process are our best clients and attempt to provide timely feedback. Those who feel recruiters are a necessary evil generally do not last long on RecruitAlliance and we make a concerted effort to insure the employers meet the recruiters half way. We are evolving and with great feedback from our recruiter members and employers we continually strive to enhance our product with new features. Sites like RecruitAlliance will never replace your own efforts but our goal is to be able to contribute to your success. Feel free to call me directly if you would like additional information and also remember that if you have a client who is using a site that takes a portion of your fee then by all means send them to RecruitAlliance where you keep 100% of your fee.

BountyJobs is not an added value to any organization. Instead what they do is simply create a bottleneck for those companies looking to hire valuable employees that they use recruiters for. They in no way streamline the process instead make it more difficult for recruiters and the actual hiring manager to get the talent they need. Most Recruiters will not send their best candidates to companies on Bounty Jobs. Why? well because Bounty Jobs keeps 25% of the fee. You can do the math from there. In addition to that I hear the they are having money problems. They have fired the CFO, VP of Sales, and most of the sales staff. All their new reps are comission only! Makes me wonder. They are hiring recruiters and churning them. Get their clients and let them go. I hear and see that they are running out of cash hence all the changes. Why would you hire a large sales force, VP of Sales and CFO to let them go 90 days later…..

Finally word has gotten out that they are planning on charging recruiters up to$400 a month to get more than 2 engagements starting in april 2009.
Craig,

Great advise .. let's touch base soon ...

I think people are just trying to figure out a way to make a living. Sales is a tough game and Bounty type application take half the needed sales effort off the table so it is attractive to those in the industry who don't want to be making cold sales calls to pitch their recruiting services and negotiate fee agreements, payment terms, and guarantees.

As you can see from this string there are lots of offerings available in the market now, if a company is consistently being called out publicly for not getting back to people then something is wrong and we have seen this many times already so I would think that it can't be because business is so fantastic.

From all the people I talk to and posts I read it looks to me like these systems are a nice way to augment your business but should not be the core of your time and effort since very few people rave about the success. With so many independents out there you have to seek out "birds of a feather" for yourself and your stlye, your niche, those who will work with you, those who will call you back, those who will not waste your most valuable resource, your time.

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm still a bit torn if I should even pursue the program. Why do you guys think Bounty Jobs is so popular with all these things considered? Naturally I would think that the open marketplace concept pushes recruiters to settle for a lower fee, but generally does that fee still outweigh doing 50/50 splits?
After initially talking to Ron Elitzur Co-founder, BountyJobs and featuring Bounty Jobs on my blog a year back I must have received more than 100 comments. Around 60 comments are on the website.. worth reading

Ouch - forgot about what I wrote 2+ years ago. Can't understand why the company hasn't been more aggressive in managing the negative comments...

I have been following this blog as well as others about Bounty for some time. I was at first skeptical of the business model another company [which i am a current member]introduced a number of years ago so when Bounty came along i thought i would at least try them. My experience with them has been very negative and just today I finally have had enough. I had a candidate who I submitted to a job posting on Bounty and have not had any response for a long time. I finally got the employer's hiring manager on the phone today and he told me, and i quote, "look, those jobs are not real, we just wanted to see what was out there"...." we will not have any jobs for at least the next couple of months and we will take a look at your candidates then" YIKES, i almost hit the roof. Like i have nothing better to do then send candidates into black holes. I must say my experience with another site which was mentioned here, has been totally opposite of mine on Bounty and i will continue to use their service but i caution anyone to think long and hard about wasting your time with Bounty. I also spoke with another recruiter who had a similar experience as far as working on a job that wasn't real...
