As of this writing, RecruitingBlogs.com is a network that is home to over 20,000 recruiters, HR Professionals and recruiting vendors. It's a fantastic community, home to thousands of
blog posts and
discussions, hundreds of groups and
videos and countless opportunities to network and interact with recruiters across the world.
Like any community, there are certain rules and guidelines that can help make the community better for everyone. Some of them are
simply clarification on how the technology works. Some of them are to promote a better experience for the users. But all of them are designed to help YOU get the most out of RecruitingBlogs.com:
1) Remember the difference between blog posts and discussions/forums. Blog posts are best for your original opinions; while discussions are more suitable for questions you'd like others to talk about.
2) We have a job board on the site. If you'd like to post a job for a recruiter or HR professional, please use
Recruiting-Jobs.com
3)
Groups are a great way to drill down into more specific areas within the site. Please join only groups that apply to you and be respectful of the group moderator. There is also a RecruitingBlogs.com group on LinkedIn.
4) Comments, whether on pages, blog posts or discussions, should be used to communicate, not spam. A great rule of thumb is if you are leaving the same message more than twice, you are probably coming across as a spammer.
5) Blog posts and forum discussions aren't about selling or promoting products. This community generally reacts better to well-written, thoughtful content than to an outright sales pitch. Starting a conversation will always win you more branding than repeating a one-way marketing message.
6) Advertising/Vendors: However, there is a place for marketing in this community. Since the community has so many interactive elements, RecruitingBlogs.com has put together several packages to help you market your products and services. The fastest, easiest, cheapest way to get a message out to the community is through a sponsored link.
7) Please don't use any of the categories to post ONLY a link back to another site. Links before, after or within the post are fine, although gratuitous use of links to the same place will generally discourage
your post from being featured.
8) We want recruiters to do business with other recruiters. To that end, we've created
splits.org, which is a fast and easy way to post splits on twitter. Please use that for open job orders or candidates you are looking to place.
What to watch for: You may have noticed that even though this network changes around a bit, there are some things that stay the same. For example, we have community featured writers who contribute a huge amount every week:
John Sumser- creates the Top 100 Influencer series and previously, the Digging Into RecruitingBlogs.com series
Amitai Givertz- handles community editorial and does a weekly round up of content
Rayanne Thorn- writes a daily Bonus Track for the community
Claudia Faust- answers questions weekly on Wednesday Wisdom
Of course, we also have Tuesday Tutorials and Third Party Thursdays (several writers)
Jason Davis (aka Slouch) is the creator of this network and he makes it all happen
So now you know all you need to know to enjoy this community. It's a great place to learn, grow, network and just hang out. If you have any questions, just ask!
P.S. If you're a part of this community and you feel there's something missing from this post, please leave it in the comments. The idea is that we have enough comprehensive information about how the site works to help the folks that are coming here for the first time.
