What type of recruiter - agency, corporate, etc.
Role - full desk, client development
Resources - what is provided to the recruiter. Candidate database, job board resume search paid for, job postings, office or work from home, training, and so on.
There are many types of compensation models out there. Are you looking to hire someone or looking at a position for yourself?

Generally speaking this is what I've seen in the LA area for TECH / IT Recruiters: Generalist, Finance, and HR recruiters will earn about 10-15% less, low level admin / customer care recruiters will earn half this mostly because commissions are weaker for lower end salaries. Think about it. Getting a 20% commission on an admin assistant who earns $15 per hour vs. a .Net developer who earns $75 per hour. No brainer right?
Agency Junior recruiter (1-5 yrs) = $40-$55k base salary + commissions. Annual should be $60-80k+
Agency Mid recruiter (4-7 yrs) = $50-60k base salary + commissions. Annual should be $80-100k+
Agency Sr. recruiters should be earning $90-150k on the average due to commissions.
Some agencies are commission heavy sales environments and recruiters are quoted as earning $200k+, however it's not the norm.
Corporate recruiters have a broad range but generally earn $70-100k ballpark depending on how deep and senior their experience. Usually a high base salary and a corporate bonus.
Qualities sought after on the agency side is different and unique compared to the corporate side. You have to be experienced to know the difference.
Remember these are "generalizations". There are a lot of variables that will tweak the numbers here and there and remember, everything is negotiable.
