Hiring Immigrants to Canada

I'm interested in learning more about hiring patterns and the interest in hiring immigrants that are moving to Canada (or have recently moved).

Are there any recruiters out there (corporate or otherwise) that are willing to speak with me?

Things I'm trying to understand:

1. Are companies actively trying to hire immigrants?

2. Do companies see a need to do more hiring of immigrants because of the lack of talent in Canada?

3. What industries / sectors do more immigrant hiring? Why?
