FYI, Rick is interviewed in the article talking about his company' services...
Rick, you're not going to be one of those short-sighted, self-serving attention seekers who see RecruitingBlogs.com as a place to extract what they want without giving something back are you?

A brain is a terrible thing to waste.
Amitai, I'm glad you said it. I was kinda' thinking the same thing.
Maureen, I think of you as being the model for anyone who wants to build their business in forums such as these. Anyone who wants to truly understand how to leverage the social web for building meaning and profitable relationships should look closely to your example.

The truth is, very few can bring it on. They don't possess a karma-centric view of the universe that supposes it is possible for a network to provide without a marketeer's legacy-tinkering. Nor do they have the level of integrity in their products, services and purpose that makes them authentic, attractive. And do they have the energy to "give what it takes?" Probably not.

When hucksters come across as fake and self-serving, rather than learn and adapt, they poo-poo the social-web as a marketeers worst nightmare and move on to the next niche this and no-budget that.

My sense of Rick is that he has more to give than to take. If he can work that out he'll end up receiving more out of this forum than he could have ever imagined at the get-go. I guess it boils down to trust -- who has it, who wants it.

We'll see.

Ami!
Such nice things you say!
What it really boils down to (as you have pointed out so succinctly) is whether or not you're willing to bring more to the table than you take away. It's not a hard thing to do, but it takes perseverence, as you know.
