When operating as an independent sole proprietor or an independent contractor, does a recruiter need such insurance? Can the client agreement or contract waive liability?

John,
I would check with your state laws. I know here in Canada, there are at least three provinces that require you to have it if you are working in certain areas, ie. accounting, estate planning, etc.

My personal thought is that in order to protect myself, I would look into having it. Again, with a waive, this is going to be particular to your area as well.
