I'd much rather work on a killer job order. I truly think it's much easier to find a candidate to fill a job order than it is vice versa. I agree with Jerry. Go with who will pay you then in your down time work on the mpc.
Great question....There is no question that for us, we find find the right people for our clients, not the other way around (finding the right job for the MPC). However, there are a lot of ways to skin a cat and either business model can work tremendously well. I think the big key is to know who you are and what you want your business to be. It is very difficult to go back and forth and change your perspective from finding the right person to finding the right job for someone. If you don't know what you are trying to do or you go back and forth, you will waste a lot of time.
We always take the perspective of doing whatever it takes to find the right person for our client. For our business model that involves partnering with strong recruiters through splits.
However, a business model of taking an MPC and marketing them prospective clients will place candidates and generate job orders. If you don't place them with a new client there are plenty of splits out there where you may be able to place them. I think you can be very successful with either approach. The most important thing is to know how you want to do business and do a lot of it.
