The first thing that comes to me when I think about my future in recruiting is how we drag the resisters into the New Age. Like Gracie Slick said in Bethel, NY 40 years ago, "There's a new day dawning". Look at the numbers of people who still resist Twitter. My own organization blocks Facebook and My Space. It will take too many years to change the mindset of those who hold on to the status quo if we don't start now. HR professionals finally have a seat at the table in strategic planning the success of organizations but we seem to be afraid to really embrace change. It's scary telling the CEO to allow Facebook & Twitter without consequence after you overhear him/her scowl he/she doesn't get all this social networking, etc., etc. So I see myself as a type of Paul Revere, if you will. I'll be yelling from the rafters,"The change is coming, the change is coming." Hopefully, Andy Rooney will be listening.
