The more I invest into a relationship, the more I should invest into the break-up:

- One date = break-up over voice mail or message on her facebook homepage
- a couple of dates = a nice and sincere phone call
- A Couple of months & "a relationship" = let her down gently over dinner

But, how does it work in recruiting. I'm a corporate recruiter and have saught out these candidates and have sold them on turning their life upside down for me. But, only 1 out of the 5 candidates can eventually be chosen, and unlinke dating, we really do want to "stay friends." What do I owe this person? What level of recruiting relationship equates with available break-up options?

I promise, it's not you....it's me!
