Does anybody have any good suggestions for doing ref. checks besides the norm. For example:

1. Would you rehire this person

2. What was his attendance like


I am trying to find some better questions to ask to really find out what the candidate can and cannot do.  What are the negatives, everyone has them.

As we all know references are normally good so I'm looking for some harder questions to ask and get a better/real feel of the candidates history.

Any suggestions?
