I was hoping that some of my colleagues here might be able to enlighten me on the difference between a Sourcer and a Recruiter. Doesn't a good recruiter source their candidates?

Yes, you are right-a good recruiter does source. However-the context is in the scale -or the 'assembly line approach to hiring' when the numbers are large...when specialisation helps in improving strike rates.
Sourcers are focused on the search and development of leads while as recruiters focus on the end-to-end process ie communication with candidates in process, (which include among other things ...evaluating culture fit, screening, negotiating, and handling the hiring from initial offer to on boarding!)
Skills wise, sourcers are more typers...( data mining, boolean, research oriented)..while recruiters are 'talkers' (great communication, influencing, selling ...oriented)
