I followed up with a candidate to let him know that a hire was made on the position he was contacted for. He was very grateful that we let him know. He said, "I've been in this industry for a long time and a lot of people don't take the time to follow up with candidates. I think it is the responsible thing to do."

This candidate was an Executive Recruiter.

Do you agree with this recruiter?

I've had candidates say the same thing to me, after telling them a position had been filled..some are surprised ( yet grateful) that I called, and one went so far as to say, "Tom, you are one of the better recruiters, you can call me on a position anytime".

I dunno, It's second nature to me, but not for everyone apparently.
I know what you mean. Some candidates respond as if I told them they got another interview. A little kindness goes a long way. Keep up the good work Tom.
