Permalink Reply by Bonnie Brooks on October 1, 2012 at 9:24am I spent 7+ years in a company that could be a great profile on "how NOT to run a company". That this company has survived 20+ years is astounding. So you say, "they must be doing something right?".....but you would be incorrect my friend. I have seen first hand how a business can survive and even thrive while being the worst of the worst. C'mon, if you really think about it - haven't we all seen it?
My former company truly believed that the only employees who could be trusted and who had an ounce of intelligence were managers. The managers must have been born as such because they were treated and performed as if they had never spent a day in the trenches- only as a manager, looking at the rest of us from above. Harsh? Yup. True? Absolutely. It was not the actual work that left me designating it as the worst, but the company in which the job lived. Why stay? The rut. Particularly in today's unstable economy...."must keep my job because there are no jobs out there"....and while not true ... the rut lives on .....but not for me!
