DBA'S used to be a core area in Technology Jobs.But it seems even Layoffs started in that area also since last few weeks/months.Looking forward for comments from other members who have handled this.

I quite agree with your statement Andy. There has been a lot of layoffs in almost all the areas of technology and other industries too...but DBA's being the backbone for some organization (handling their database) are not safe either !

I would like to share my personal experience here - One of my candidate got placed on a long term project which was supposed to go by the end mid of '09, lost his job last week which is very uncertain and alarming
