So, instead of me writing a blog- I thought it would be great if the RBC Community wrote a blog. Make a comment by sending in your best one liner. Let's get as many as we can and then we can have Tim & Noel publish it. Be creative. I'll start it-
1) You know you are a recruiter when you find yourself eating lunch at your desk regularly so you can catch the candidate when they are available.

You know your a recruiter when for no apparent reason people send you linkedin invitations for no reason other than to connect to your network
Permalink Reply by Jamee Wheeler on December 3, 2012 at 4:55pm You know you are a recruiter when you are out to lunch or running errands trying to read what security badges people have on and what work logos are on their shirts to try to strike up a conversation to attain a new client or candidate!
Or you get a friend request on facebook and the first thing you do is to click "about" to find out what they do and where they've worked! haha!
When you come across a resume that is written so bad....it goes in your "winner of the day" file. Or while talking to them, you start to feel bad and actually tell them, you can't use them but suggest making changes to resume. FYI, I've actually made the suggestion and usually get told I'm an idiot.

You know you are a recruiter when you realize you have the resume of almost everyone you know!
Permalink Reply by Ian on December 4, 2012 at 1:46pm you know you're a recruiter when... your wife totally understands that you have a "little black book" and it's half full with the names of thousands of women in it ...and you know their career histories as well as you know your own.
I don't have kids, but this is something I would do!

You know your a recruiter when...I was trying to hire a baby sitter and during the interview I kept trying to close her.
Permalink Reply by Kelly Taylor on December 4, 2012 at 5:41pm You know your a rrecruiter when at least one or two times a week your candidate couldn't make the interview because of car troubles or someone died in their family. How many people can have dead cars and relatives every week!
LOL!!!!! You have to schedule 8 interviews a day because you know only 2- 5 will actually show up! :-)

Permalink Reply by Kelly Taylor on December 4, 2012 at 5:51pm You know your a recruiter when you think to yourself the person doing the interviewing wouldn't even hire themselves if they had the chance.
I can't tell you all how happy I am that there are others out there who have experienced the dead car, family emergency, roof fell in, dog ate my homework, no power for not being able to keep an interview appointment!
Permalink Reply by Kelly Taylor on December 4, 2012 at 6:01pm Or they just hired someone with half the skills and experience they said they had to have when they gave you the job description.

You know you are a recruiter when you have spent months recruiting for a specific position only to find out the position has been cancelled or put on hold because of a reorg.
