Your time is precious - as are your dollars. So why not take a look at a few basic things BEFORE you try and decide which web based technology you should jump on board with? Is it as simple as just grabbing and installing the newest application? Is it as easy as just creating a Facebook page and waiting for job seekers?
Posted here on RBC is a blog entry and video touching on some basics in regards to setting yourself up to make solid decisions around online recruitment and social applications.
Chris! Nice work. You have the unique ability to take the information overload, that which makes many of us "brain lock" when pondering, and present a clear line of logic while entertaining us at the same time. You've got serious production skill and you are obviously very knowledgeable in your subject matter. Makes for a great teacher.
Chris makes a perfect point when he addresses "What" in this video. Even if you know "how"... if you are using a great "how" to chase the wrong "what"... you're spending your time on the wrong track. If you are being paid for your time, the paying party may perceive your "how" as a waste of time. That's not good. It's not good for your reputation or the reputation of the "how"... namely social media.
If you're passing by and read this... I recommend hitting the play button on this video. Some very interesting statistics within... and, it's intellectually entertaining as well.
