I'm happy with Ning. You can't beat the price and they have a team of developers that are constantly developing.

I think without checking and making sure, you can set pictures to just show featured content. You can deal with all other content on the front page like that so I figure it is like that as well for pictures. You would have to feature the actual pictures and then set the picture section on the front page to just show featured.

Jason - is there a way to have only certain photos display on the home page - ex would be only those added my an admin or tagged with certain words. Possible or is it all or nothing?

we can now put chat back on the main page in the center column only. let me know if you want to know how. I picked it up from a thread on sitesuites.ning.com of which I am paying supporter. As a result I have access to widgets but the chat hack is available to everyone
