The Buzz of helping people learn
Forgive me Buzzers it's been a while since I've had something that gave me a buzz at work.
Although it happened today.
Doing a review, I was told that she was reading a newspaper, which was talking about the power of twitter. Someone's twitter message prompted one of the major Australian Bank....
She'd also read a bit more about Social Media, and the need for Recruitment to add value to an organisation outside the pure hiring of people. She mentioned that she was thinking through this... Man, this is what Dan has been talking about.
The Buzz is that someone was listening and thought (well if they thought or actually learned that) what I was saying was right or relevant. Seeing someone have a light bulb moment that you potentially inspired. Had to happen eventually I suppose.

Danny, dear Mr Nehru, it's great to get the morons in your office onside. I won't deny that.
But is this an isolated instance of a big company rushing to cover-up a fault exposed? I think so.
Blogs and online forums have been around for awhile now. How many problems are being solved in response to complaints made on these platforms? -

When it takes me 6 months to get sign off for a webcam, trust me this is a big step for my company.
Not saying it was new or rocket science, but hey they didn't know that, I like to look smart, even if it is an illusion :)
Someone actually asked me the other day if we wanted to know about what people were complaining about or just plain talking about re the company... I took a deep breathe and started again.....
A lot of people aren't as enlightened as the great folk here on RBC and still fear this self publishing, limited barrier to entry, quick way to make a "noise" thing called the internet, forums, blogs and well don't even get me started on wiki's....
Were we happier before these forums were around to point out our faults, ignorance is definitely bliss? knowing stuff causes way more work. :) (all things drawn out from conversations had I'm afraid)
