A long time ago, when I sold small businesses, I had a routine when a new “buyer” called. There were three questions I wanted answered before I would reveal anything about the listed business they were calling about.
Rule Number 1. What’s your name?
Rule Number 2. How much money do you have?
Rule Number 3. What does your spouse think about this idea you have about buying a business?
Here I go into more detail about those three questions and explain the rationale behind each. I can see an analogy to recruiting with these three questions - can you?
