Which best describes your profession?
Recruiter
How many years have you been in the business?
Less than 1 year
Which industries do you work in now?
Healthcare
What kind of networking are you open to?
Open networking, Referrals between friends
How do you introduce yourself to people you meet in business?
Sorry 'bout that. A little corn starch should get rid of that stain.
Name someone you most admire
Neuroscientist Antonio Damasio due to his ability to distinguish between “feeling” and “emotion” as it relates to brain function and apply this to everyday life. And ... his knack for validating the theories of 17th century philosophers when held up to the light of modern scientific reason.
Which blogs would you recommend people read?
I'm just getting into this business, so the blogs I read are mostly non-recruiting related. I will change this once I start reading more recruiting blogs.
What recruiting tools can you not live without?
Too early to tell (newbie), but telephone aside, it would have to be my ATS.
What do you like best about RecruitingBlogs.com...
The individual blogs - some members are very prolific. I also like the networking opportunities and the quality of members.
...and what would you change and why?
Not much. Maybe a designated section for business networking as it relates to splits.

Thanks for the welcome Maren!

I'm a newbie (legal is working on the DBA etc...) and I won't be official for a couple of weeks, but found this site very engaging.

I appreciate your offer to help and will most likely pick your brain and post of few blogs for feedback. I've been in various BD roles (Sales and Sales Management) in the Diagnostic industry for 20 years and have many relationships on both the client and candidate side. I've already reached out to an officer of my former company and he said he will fully support my venture and suggested two other sales officers will follow suit ... And, to call him for a current job order when I'm official. So, I think I have a "start-up advantage," but I'm not above entertaining the thought that this is pure naivety.

An interesting observation: I was engaged w/the owner of a large and well respected recruiting firm specializing in the diagnostic industry. After selling him on the idea of taking me on as one of his managing partners; I interviewed the four partners as part of my due diligence. What I found out, technology aside, is not a lot has changed (fundamentally) in the approach of the recruiting industry - since I was a recruiter (2 years) back in the mid 1980s.

Anyway, just a random thought. I will put more of an effort as a member when I get a little time. Thanks again!
