I had the same problem when I started by search firm and unfortunately there were no good options for small business. I still receive by health benfits through that company and pay $1500/month for my family. I can live with that but where it becom...

I contacted the Chamber and don't think it will really help. It isn't a group plan within the Chamber, they supposedly give you a discount for being a member. We will have rates next week sometime. Our Cobra payment for 2 people is $1838 per month...

I had no idea! So there is a reason to belong to the Chamber. Since I work Nationwide, I don't get involved with the Chamber, but I will check into this. Thanks Pam! pam claughton said:Have you looked into your local Chamber of Commerce? They lik...

Come on guys, let's start working!

I have only been a member for a week and I really appreciate this site, but come on Recruiters! Our chats are for people trying to pass time, some of the blogs are just down right negative! It is time for us to realize that we make our good fortune or not..... There are many recruiters that are suffering because their particular specialty is hurting, but come on folks, set yourself apart from others and go get it! We are still dealing with people and those people come and go from their jobs. Rem… Continue

What Makes Me a Smarter Recruiter?

First, I love people, second I love to help people. I never view my calls as cold...they are always warm. I am a realist. I don't try to make something that isn't. This is not a sales job to me! When we properly match a person to a position, it will all fall into place and there is no sales. The sales does come in the initial recruiting call and marketing call, but we should NOT be selling at the end. A successful match happens. Being in this business for almost 20 years has taught me how import… Continue

Are you a "Control Freak"?

I was just thinking about Control Freaks! If you are a control freak, recruiting is not the business for you. You have so little control over what people do and your business is all about people. The only thing I can control is me. My attitude, my beliefs, my passion. I have choices and control those choices about how hard I work, how I treat others, but a control freak, I'm not. I want to be "in the know", but I am not trying to control anything. "Being in the know" allows you to head off disas… Continue

Contingency Placement

I have been recruiting for almost 20 years. I have seen times good and bad and for the most part, we as recruiters are primarily the problem about wasting time. A new movie is almost out "He's just not that in to you", which I find to describe the truth of what happens. If we as recruiters cultivate and develop the proper relationships with the companies we do business with and supply extraordinary people to our client, they WILL hire them. It's when we get lazy and try to get by with a mediocre… Continue

Debbie,

Thanks and Yes, I am in a couple of groups on LinkedIn and I have a couple of candidates from there, I was just reaching out to my recruiters to see if they know of any other avaenues that I might take.

I will definitely keep my eyes open for "Advertising Agencies that have specifically Green Clients".

Have a great day!

Debbie - thanks for taking an interest in my post and taking the time to respond! I totally agree that spending too much time on what adds up to non-productive work isn't a good thing either, but I still like to extend myself that extra bit whenever I can. Have a great day!

Hey Deb, couldn't agree more... Thanks for the feedback...the Economy here is ordinary, not quite as bad as I read about what it's like in the US, unfortunately Australia normally follows in the US's footsteps....

In response to your questions, I only Recruit for my company here in Australia, we are a local company, although I am widening my companies reach everyday.

Chin up Deb, I know you are a positive person.. the silver lining, there will be less competition in the near future.
