How to see them coming?

HOW TO SEE THEM COMING?Written by: Kristopher LarkinEdited by: Donald Sonn, PhDThose of us who have authority to hire the next candidate know the fear that haunts us, that perhaps we are incapable of finding the perfect candidate for the job. What does it take to see the wrong candidates coming a mile away? The difficulty of discerning who to hire and why is an age old challenge. The road ahead isn't going to be easy. The first step is having the right job available for the right candidate to be successful. If the position you are trying to fill doesn't have a competitive compensation structure, the right people will seek work elsewhere. Remember, several people will grab the first job they see willing to hire them, but the goal is to see those ones coming a mile away. Hiring Managers need to engage in frank…See More

Three Easy Techniques to Advance in Your Career

1) If your boss doesn’t know you want to move up in the company you are unlikely to get a promotion or even recognition for doing good work.  Bosses annot read your mind. Our attention is split all over in this time of electronic communications, and the same is true of your supervisor; The bosses attention is focused on  their team, politics, performance, paperwork, compliance, strategy, competition, profile building, hiring and firing, and many other items. If you don’t get feedback from your superior, exercise your power by requesting feedback (If they don’t oblige, go to their boss). During a review session assert yourself by directly saying what you need. If you tell them what you are hoping for, then at the least it’s on the agenda, and documented for future conversations. If your superior is not taking notes,  take them yourself and send them later. Explain your value to the company, and what you deserve in terms of promotions. You should always ask what it is you can do that…See More

4 Critical Techniques for Wowing Your Job Interviewer!

Most job interviews are for positions that will pay at least several thousand more than you are currently earning. Successful job interviews can vault your career forward. Yet, most applicants leave the process to chance. That also explains why they lose out most of the time. Don't let that happen to you! Prepare by studying these simple steps toward success: Before the Interview:1. ResearchResearch the company and the job. Libraries, the Internet (including Hospitality Online), industry magazines, the local Visitor and Convention Bureau, and competing hotels and restaurants are all good sources.Always visit the location you will be working at (and/or other properties the company has) before the interview to see how well they are managed, how clean they are, are they well maintained, are capital dollars being re-invested. Greet some employees to see how they respond (they don't have to…See More

Can you be Happy in Work and in Life or Only One at a Time?

Posted by Donald Sonnhttp://profrecruitersblog.com/https://www.facebook.com/PRARecruiterA business coach who often coaches top executives told me this tale:It happens quite often that when I coach top leaders, they end up realizing that while they have indeed achieved all the outward signs of success, they’re just not happy at work or in life. They have the corner office, company Mercedes, million dollar salary and stock options. But ask the right questions, and it turns out that many of them are lonely and lost. Their work brings them no joy, it holds no meaning and creates no positive, lasting relationships. It also takes up all their time and keeps them away from their family and friends. One well-known top leader broke down crying over the realization, that most of his work life had been wasted on…See More
