Dyll Davies commented on Will Thomson's blog post 'Hiring a Monkey Recruiter'
"Sandra as ever you hit the nail on the head!  "Can you train a monkey to recruit?  Sure if your idea of recruiting is to post a job, read resumes and forward 5 or 6 to a client so the client can pick the one they want.  I call…"

Dyll Davies commented on Ken Forrester's blog post 'It's The Headhunter Fee, Stupid!'
"Good post Ken. The problem is that many clients don't even understand the difference between passive and active search and therefore bracket "all recruiters" together.  As you say head-hunting is a skill and something that takes…"

Recruiting - less is more or Some Simple Mistakes to Avoid when Trying to Fill a Tough Rec.

Posted on June 21, 2012 at 10:29am 11 Comments

Here's a thought.  Less is sometimes more.  Everyone nods their heads sagely.  Of course, sometimes less is more.  It is a cliché almost to say 'less is more'.  Well if it is so blindingly obvious why do so many companies think that 'more is more' when it comes to recruiting?

What do I mean? Well . . .when companies engage an external recruiter to help them with those tough-to-fill bits of headcount that their internal recruiter can't manage why do they think that engaging with…

Not so much a blog as a request

I recruit mainly in EMEA based out of the UK.  High tech start ups are my speciality along with building teams from scratch.  Last year was a fantastic year.  This year less so but still ticking along well enough.  I have never actively marketed my business as clients have always come to me but now after last year's record billings it has occurred to me that I am functioning at about half capacity at most and could easily repeat those billings year on year.  I am therefore interested in…

Which bit of "Don't apply for this postion if you ain't got the experience!" do candidates not understand?

Posted on November 29, 2011 at 1:30pm 15 Comments

I am sure I am not alone in receiving countless completely inappropriate and seemingly randomly sent CVs when advertising for roles - it kinda comes with the territory - but it never fails to amaze me that even when a specific warning that irrelevant and inappropriate CVs will not get a response is included in the advertisement that so many candidates think it is worthwhile sending you their CV despite the fact they have no suitable experience and in fact, in many cases, simply could not…

Thanks Dyll! We just expanded into the UK (Zones UK out of Manchester, I think?) but we don't handle any recruiting from this location. I met the Zones UK guys in January and tried to convince them they needed to fly me over to assist, but no luck. :)
