There are good internal recruiters and crappy. I get why a hiring manager would want to go around them. What I don't understand is why have internal recruiting/HR if they can't do the job. Seems redundant to me! Waste of time/money/resources.

I understand your point......but the taboo part is quality control and managing a seamless process........the hiring managers are busy doing their job.......it's the recruiters job to manage either the actual search and/or the process with the agenc…

Every company does things a little differently. Many smaller companies don't have internal recruiters, so we'll deal directly with hiring managers, which is always our preference. Then, some companies have internal hr people who are great, and help…

Since I'm inhouse recruiting I've always trained my hiring managers to not take calls from staffing agencies and they are always relieved to find out that they don't have to. My other inhouse recruiting colleagues do the same. And it's not like I ca…

I, like the others, agree, with Jerry and take it one step further, using not only "presentation" but also "education." "I'd like to give you all the information and specifics you need in order to make and an educated and informed decision."

How to get through Registered Nurses?

My experience recruiting for IT consultants is very different from recruitin for Registered Nurses...with IT consultants you may either call them or by simply posting an add online- you get through them and they start calling you.

WIht healthcare though- speficically nurses..since they work odd shifts and lots of 12 hour shifts...I am not quite sure if they ever find a time to be online to look for jobs..not to mention- there's a lot of jobs for nurses which makes it challenging to recruit one… Continue

Setting Goals...Planning...PURPOSE...

Pretty common...everyone knows it...but how many people..organizations..companies..leaders actually do/apply these in their everyday professional and personal life?

Just like "Rice" for asian people and "Potatoes" for western people- they are considered a STAPLE when it comes to not only running your own business or being an employee but this is something that plays a big role even in running your own personal life.

It does sound a pretty simple thing to do but you would be surprise that there… Continue

You can never go wrong with having "Good Intention" "Honesty" and "Compassion"

We all have seen all the advice/tips that we all shared here on how to become a successful recruiter and they are all awesome tips for sure:)

One thing though that I would like to add, base on my 4 years in recruiting plus 3 years working in customer service and Team Lead (leading 20 people under my care and management)- I would like to add how having the best intention for everyone you deal with definitely takes that relationship to a level that which is- stronger.

Honesty as what they say is… Continue

Facebooking- Personal VS. Professional information

Where do you draw the line? how do you decide which photo, information, etc is appropriate to be there for some of your contacts (specifically professional contacts) to see??

No- I am not talking about super inappropriate pictures or anything like that...It's just that when I started facebooking- it was more of a personal page just like myspace or friendster wherein most of the people you will have there are your friends and that is one great way to update everyone of what is going on in your l… Continue

I am the “Admin” for the Recruiters On LinkedIn group, www.recruitingblogs.com/group/linkedin. You have recently joined and this is a "welcome" to the group and "here is how it works".

Over the past year I have been experimenting how best to facilitate members being able to connect with each other. Some want to connect with everyone and some are looking for a few meaningful connections.

1-2 times per week I send a group introduction message with 10-15 new members and reintroducing others.

What this means for you is simple, do you wish to be introduced to the group?

You have 4 options from which to choose:

(A) “Open Networker” with name, email address, and LinkedIn URL as you want to connect with anyone and everyone.

(B) “General Introduction” with name and LinkedIn URL as you are specific about who you want to connect with.

(C) “Lurker” no announcement will be made as you want to be on the sidelines connecting with people as you wish.

(D) “Super Open Networker” which is (A) plus having your contact information on the group page.

A caution on the “Open Networker”, you may be inundated with invitations to connect. For some this is exactly what they are hoping for and others this could be a pain.

I do ask, if you receive invitations from members you do not want to connect with that you “Archive” the message versus “I don’t know” so the sender is not penalized by LinkedIn although how you handle this is up to you.

Again your options are (A), (B), (C), (D).

Please include your LinkedIn URL and email address you prefer to receive invitations and send to paul@mnheadhunter.com

Thank you for your time.
