Karen Swim commented on Becki Dunaway's blog post 'Thrown Under the Bus'
Becki, I completely sympathize and agree that this job market is very different. Over the years I've heard that desire to hire the committed from the employer and always found it funny. Without an employer contract, there is no guarantee that…

Karen Swim commented on Helen Rosen's blog post '"I KNOW SOMEONE . . .'
Sadly, this is true of some of those unemployed. The clients I work with that are up to date on skills, savvy in their approach and who actively pursue their next opportunity find work quickly and easily. The "job seekers" not so much.…

Karen Swim commented on Brian Pho's blog post 'How a single tweet can damage a company's reputation...'
While I agree that companies must have robust programs that include monitoring, response and damage control there is another component in this equation. As publishers we all should be held accountable for what we say. The single tweeter owed it to…

Karen Swim commented on Ron Cottick's blog post 'Do you "KIS" with your candidate's resume?'
Ron, great post and as someone who writes resumes for candidates I think the take away here is clear - be honest, be clear and know your audience. I actually consult with my clients, look at the jobs/companies of interest and drill down to make sure…

As I scrolled through the endless emails that accumulated overnight, one title caught my eye “Career Exploration: Paying the Bills and Feeding the Soul.”

As I opened the email to learn more I thought of the candidates I’ve worked with over the years, male and female for whom this message resonates. We often connect the nourishing of the soul and spirit with women but it is very much a need common to both genders.

Hi, my name is Kevin and I am the operations manager for a healthcare recruiting firm in Los Angeles, CA. I’m reaching out to you because you indicated on your profile that you were in healthcare staffing and possibly open to doing some splits. We have a lot of open job orders and offer a 50/50 fee split. Would you be open to discussing ways we could collaborate from time to time?

Hey, kid! What's up with you these days? You've gotta be making a killing right now: EVERYBODY wants a shiny new resume!

I've missed your wit. Sorry I haven't been around much. I was hibernating (and you all wondered where bikers go in the winter).

Talk to you soon.
