When I started as a recruiter in 1993, my first job was to develop an IT contract staffing business to complement the agency's existing direct IT placement business. Over the next 3 years, I was able to build a substantial business, and saw the advantages of the contract side of the business. The ongoing, growing revenue stream was the best part.

Your prospects have internal recruiters. What can you do that they can't?

Internal corporate recruiters have a number of advantages.

They can interact with the managers.
They understand the corporate culture.
They are more up to date on changing requirements and priorities.
They know who was recently hired.
They have access to the company database of candidates.
They can use the company accounts for job boards.
They can place ads on the company website.
They can review the incoming resumes.

So with all this going for them, why would they need an outside recruiter?… Continue

Kennedy Conference "Takeaway" thoughts... What is the COST of UNFILLED POSITIONS?

One of the speakers today is head of worldwide recruiting for an international company that makes sports apparel and shoes... based in WA...

His talk included a MAJOR takeaway that external and internal recruiters alike would be advised to remember.
