"I am a strategic HR professional with the SPHR designation and a resume that rivals no other"..............and this means what? We have enough ego on this site already. It causes problems. I don't think your statement is relevant to your topic in...

This entire subject comes down to ego. Plain and simple. It's my impression that those who blog, or comment, or pontificate do so because their little egos, needing to be bigger ego's get in the way of sound judgment and in the process our reasoni...

Correction.........I meant to say that there is no way that HR or Recruiting is NOT a cost center, unless you are sourcing it out as a paid service to other companies.

I whole heartedly support Charlie Judy's point of view. All very valid points and recruiting is a piece of the "people management pie" which just happens top be called HR. All of us are about selection, culture & fit, retention, development, pay f...

Many states have laws that won't allow a credit check unless direct access to a company's financial systems are part of the job, and then it's okay. Washington state if one of those states. Most of us who conduct background checks do it to determi...

What makes me a smart recruiter?

1. I have an innate interest in people.
2. I'm curious about people.
3. I like people.
4. I like talking to people.
5. I'm a very good listener.

And they can tell that about me and in turn they tell me EVERYTHING about themselves, and before I know it, I understand their value system and if I'm able, I can either engage them as a candidate, or provide them better service as a hiring manager. It's really that easy.

Understand completely. As for Christie's, have you ever seen the movie "Junebug"? If not, it's worth an art yuck. They always are looking for new artists; my friend is a curator for small and large - even her husband (one of my better friends) is an artist - so she always has an open eye.

Does that mean yes?

Peter, recruiting discussions aside, is this really you? Very nice work. If you don't already have the contacts, are you interested in speaking to an art maven friend who works at Christie's?
