Silicon Valley Agency Saturation

Randy Levinson commented on SeSee Munson's blog post 'Counter-Offers, And Why They Are Baaad, Very Bad!'
Great Article Se See. I have had my share of candidates accepting counter offers and I do still maintain that they will ALL be on the market 6-18 months down the road. But since I have moved to managing recruiters and train people who are just…

I was once asked "What's 2 + 2?" in an interview. I quickly answered "4" and then went into a throrough analysis of how it might depend on what the person asking the question might think it is. My manager or my customer? If…

Are you Tactically Strategic or Strategically Tactical?

After spending countless hours (maybe it even adds up to years now) in business meeting that talk about being strategic and being tactical and interchanging those terms and correlating them it seems that for many they have lost their true meaning and purpose. And then last night I was in a meeting that pointed out the true difference in these terms as never before. In the meeting was Director of Manufacturing, a Director of Supply Chain, a Sales Marketing Director and, interestingly enough, a…See More

Guilty of at least 3 of these at one time or another. But where's "The guy who spends time putting lists together"? I don't see it on here. ;-)

Rayanne, Great post. Surprising more have not commented as yet. I very recently struggled with the issue of cold calling in my last role. I was not cold calling candidates, but prospects for new business. It was tough, but like you I did a ton of…

Amy, what I love most about this post is that in its heart (and yours) is the message to connect to people. Connecting in a way that lets you know you are listening to them and interested in who they are. A few weeks ago I was interviewing for a new…

Mervyn, You make some great points here and yes, you are calling it like it is. There is a latent animosity on both sides of the fence here that is as old as the inception of the roles themselves. I appreciate how at the end of your article you…

As a recruiter who actually lives in the valley, one of the issues is there are a lot of "Crappy" recruiting "agencies" in LA, Idaho etc who claim they are in the bay area. I personally don't worry about the competition as…

Silicon Valley Agency Saturation

To be totally candid here - I gotta wonder if Silicon Valley is a little Staffing Agency saturated, or if any other geography is for that matter, or if it is possible for anyplace to be saturated. As many companies are switching over to "vendor neutral" MSPs supplied by multiple agencies who have to jump through hoops of fire to get on those lists. No, I am not complaining, just wondering if anyone else has thoughts on this. Saturation? Vendor neutral? Pick whatever it is you want to respond to.

The Time I had to “Curb my Enthusiasm”

This is not my usual kind of post but I had to share it with someone so you, my recruiting friends.

This morning, December 31st, 2009 I had a total Larry David moment. I seriously could hear the light little tune that is a stable of his show running through my head. Please try to hear that in your head as you read this.

The other guy, I have never seen him before in my life but let’s call him Larry, arrived at the gas station before me and attempted to use… Continue
