Rob commented on Cristina Lewis's blog post 'Why do the good ones disappear???'
"I agree with Noel. As long as they tell you and see you as an advisor not just someone trying to shoehorn them into a role they'll usually keep in touch with you even if they in the end don't want the role. It does depend on their skill…"

Why Dr Sullivan Is Wrong: Assessment not selling is the Remaining Recruiting Challenge.

Sourcing is dying. As Dr Sullivan eloquently points out, new tools make what was once hard, finding people, easy. With the birth of online tracking tools, software, and social media the cost of finding people will dramatically decrease. Bad news for recruiters, good news for companies. However, the next recruiting frontier is not selling but assessing the multitude. The…See More

"Hi Bill, I do take your points. I think the best method I've found is go with the other internal recruiters are not. For example, yes they can cold call and use linkedin but they can't be at conferences and networking as much as we can.…"

Rob commented on sheila Greco's blog post 'What is Trending In Recruiting?'
"Hi Bill, I think it really depends on how lucrative those 1-2 assignments a month can be. I know I can earn a lot more money working externally than being a salaried employee in house mainly because there is the premium that we charge and how…"

Rob commented on sheila Greco's blog post 'What is Trending In Recruiting?'
"Bill, I think to your question about what value a third party recruiter has when competing with internals, for me there are two things: One you very rarely see internal recruiters at events, conferences, industry get togethers and the like. I have…"

The Anti-Sale

Most people dislike being sold to. Gen Y like salesmen even less than baby-boomers. We’ve been interrupted by ads, annoyed by door-to-door and saturated by cold callers. Our mindset is on auto-response-NOThere is one vacancy that forty applicants apply for. Thirty nine have picture-perfect CV’s. One is hand delivered to the CEO by his best friend along with a glowing letter of recommendation on what the applicant did for the friend’s not-for-profit. Who gets the first interview? There are five…See More

Robin Eads commented on Rob's blog post 'Job Adverts are personal not corporate'

Job Adverts are personal not corporate

Most Job adverts stink. They stink because the people posting them list benefits not emotions. They are corporate, not personal. Few people respond to impersonal treatment but that’s what job adverts are: lists of experience needed, company achievements and pension plans. People don’t change jobs for pensions, gyms or usually salary. They change because how their new company might make them feel: the opportunities, the potential and the chance to feel part of a new tribe. Some say its business…See More
