It works most of the time.
At conferences I just hit them up for their business cards and avoid the sloppy drunk ones -- unless they are sloppy drunk with hiring power in which case I might just have a spare contract or two up my sleeve :) -- J/K clients who get sloppy drunk at conferences are not the ones who return phone calls or retain talent --usually they end up being "gaurentee period" nightmares.

I'm pretty random --I use Socialmedian so I can have a smorgasboard of reading material and I follow the ones that interest me -- there are some pretty prolific and interesting bloggers hiding out there.
What recruiting tools can you not live without?
Phone, personal Database, Linked In , Monster.com (especially right now --wheew there is a lot of talent there that will disappear as soon as the economy turns...smart recruiters are filling their databases)
