Overqualified candidates; Will companies take a chance on them?

Hello everyone! I stopped by to see who was here enjoying their beverages!  I have a question, how do you break the news to the overqualified candidates that the position they have applied for is a couple of position below their previous position.  For example- if you have a branch sales manager position available but your candidate is a VP of Sales.  One of my friend said that the candidate thought he was perfect but the client wasn't interested.   The candidate must be able to convey that he…See More

When I grow up...I don't know what I want to be or do.

Posted on May 17, 2010 at 6:02pm 2 Comments

I have been thinking lately and I was wondering if people still have dreams of all the things that they wanted to do or be when they grow up? It seems like people just happens to do the things that they encountered or by chance. I still have dreams of writing a novel, being able to buy lots of people gifts (I love shopping!) having a british short hair kitten, having a motorcycle, having a big hobby room, and the list is too long for this blog.

After reviewing the list of my…

One of the things I love about Recruitingblogs.com that it gives people a chance to connect with one another to form a community. Within this community, we have access to information such as updated industry practices, new technologies, and of course recruiting blogs. It’s a great format to blog about our profession and it also gives people opportunity to comment on these blogs. Most of the blogs are thought provoking such as this topic.

When JD suggested this topic, I had to step… Continue

One a day- for Recruiters – Complete multivitamin plus more for Recruiters*?

Posted on October 19, 2008 at 7:30pm 0 Comments

Just imagine how simple it would be; one pill a day and everything is just great!

This pill would give you all the energy and insights to handle everything about

recruiting during the day. Wouldn’t it be great if we could go shopping for a

bottle of One a day- for Recruiters?

Since there’s no such bottle, what do you do to supplement your recruiting health?

What I mean by this is, how do you maintain the competitive edge during this

uncertain economic time?… Continue

Casting Director is another word for a Recruiter.

Posted on August 23, 2008 at 3:30am 2 Comments

For tonight, I'm thinking that being a recruiter is like a casting director. It would be like working for a producer who wants to make that block buster movie. I'm thinking of the movie- The Dark Knight; directed by Christopher Nolan. Starring Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Aaron Eckhart. Batman, Gordon and Harvey Dent .

This movie blew me away since the star of the movie was Heath Ledger. He was the one that carried the movie- he was perfect for the Joker character. This is an… Continue

Is this your day for Fishing?

I found this floating around....I hope you catch a Big One!

Is this your day for Fishing?

*******************************************************

One day a fisherman was lying on a beautiful beach, with his fishing pole propped up in the sand and his solitary line cast out into the sparkling blue surf. He was enjoying the warmth of the afternoon sun and the prospect of catching a fish.

About that time, a businessman came walking down the beach, trying to… Continue
