This is where I come in, instead of adjusting, take a moment, relax, have a glass of wine or two, get some rest, lol ( I know your brain doesn't shut down long enough for that, that's where the second or third glass comes in handy) now,…

This is an interesting question and one that is probably easier to answer when not actually faced with this decision. You obviously made the right choice... I think we could all sit and analyze the issue and say, of course, that we would do what is…

What's a reputation worth?

What price would you pay to save your reputation? That sounds like a moral question that would make you ponder your integrity & values; however, I was honestly questioning it from purely a business perspective. As a winemaker, one of the emptiest feelings is having to destroy a product when no error or fault was made. Sure, it's costly & hurts when you mess up or miscalculate a formula or equation; but, there's always growth & learning that comes when that happens. For instance, our…See More

This is a constant issue for me, if you figure it out let me know! I hate to put it on a generation, but the worker today doesn't appreciate the value of the dollar, all they want is more with the slightest bit of success. They are also quick…

I have a favorite saying,"luck is what is left after giving a 110%" I wonder how that would apply to bad luck? I'd guess it's what you get when you don't give a 110%?!?

Ambition?

Posted on September 18, 2009 at 3:20am 2 Comments

Where does ambition come from? My 15 year old daughter seems to lack all drive & I don't get it! Of course they say, that's just teens, but I swear I think she's intentionally trying to be less motivated. "I don't need HS, I just want to be a hair cutter!" Are you kidding, wow, we've really set the bar high. How can her mom be a teacher & dad, bust his hump building his own business & yet her goal is to strive to cut hair? Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with cutting… Continue

Where has work ethics gone??

Posted on September 15, 2009 at 8:25pm 1 Comment

I seem to keep hiring these “rock stars” who have great potential, but so far don’t see it for themselves!?! They all seem to want more pay with the slightest bit of success, which to me is their actual job. I’m all for praise & rewarding my staff for a job WELL done, yet, they always seem to want a pat on the back for the slightest bit of task completion. I could set an atomic clock by quiting time, however, starting time tends to be flexible & always 20 min. after arriving. I swear I… Continue
