When choosing a company to work for, does size really matter?

As a staffing company, IT Accel caters to different sized businesses, and our network of talent has different needs as well. Recruiter Betty

My name is Elizabeth (Recruiter Betty) I love comic sans even though I was once told it was the most unprofessional font ever and I am a Technical Recruiter or as I like to say "Technically a Technical Recruiter" I have been recruiting for a short time 109 days to be exact (I know rediculous that I am counting). I have had some corporate recruiting experience in the past and now I am working with a great Technical staffing agency called…

Recruiting Call Reluctance is nothing to be embarrassed about. Living with it is.

Mention the fear of cold calling and you’re hitting on a problem many recruiters face at some point in their careers. Sales call reluctance, or perhaps more apt: ‘recruiting’ call reluctance; often stems from deep inside the person’s psyche and can be a serious headwind to any recruiter’s career – especially…

Traits, including laziness, can be applied for good or for evil. This all depends on the motives of the…

The Overlooked Acronym

IT, VB.Net, HR, AP, c++,IP, ID, iOS, CIO, SAP, C#, ASP.Net….oh, my!

Years ago I worked in HR for a world-renowned IT company. This company was known for acronym’s – starting with its name - so it’s surprising our division was called Personnel rather than HR. But of course talent back then referred to a job applicant and an iPhone just meant “I” was the proud owner of a telephone, albeit a landline.

Personnel ran the gamut of responsibilities from recruiting, to salary…

Are you a Lion or a Gazelle?

Lion vs. Gazelle …

Every morning in Africa, A gazelle wakes up.

It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning a lion wakes up.

It knows it must out run the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It does not matter whether you are a lion or gazelle, when the sun comes up you had better start running.  – Jim Rea

Do You Need A PHR or SPHR to Get a Job in HR?

Over the past 90 days, more than 14,000 jobs ads for human resources professionals specified that candidates would need either a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification or a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification. This is an 8.5% increase in the number of jobs that specify this certification in their ads. However, this only represents about 7% of…
