Facebook, Wikipedia, YouTube, Twitter – in addition to all holding spots in the top ten of the most trafficked websites in the entire world, they all rely entirely on user-generated content. That fact speaks to how our world interacts with the internet these days. Users are not only willing, but eager to put huge pieces of themselves and their identity out there for public…Continue

Video interviewing does more for your company than reducing costs. While it is a great alternative to traditional interviewing, it doesn’t sacrifice any of the qualities of the face-to-face experience. Rather, it transitions it to eye-to-eye. The camera focuses on a candidate’s (and the interviewer’s) face and gives insight into whether there is interest in the position. With…Continue

A coworker of mine absolutely detests the phrase, "Recruiting is a lot like dating." She says it's cliche and trite; and she is right. The problem, though, with cliches and all things trite, is that they are true.

Early February I posted a blog entry called “To Video or Not to Video? Resume video’s are they going to help or hinder?” and it sure did get some feedback. It also brought me to another mind-set on how video recruiting should really be handled. And of course the world has a funny way of connecting people and organizations that share…Continue

Back in 2003 while reviewing submitted hardcopy resumes, there were a number of new submissions that came in with mini-CD disks. Unsure as to what they really were, and concerned of potential viruses our IT department scanned them and once given the approval it was my turn to check them out. To my surprise they simply held the soft-copy of the documents that had been submitted – ok thanks but not needed.
During the Global Career Brainstorming Day (held Dec. 3, 2010) and at…Continue
