A SALUTE TO VETERANS PAST AND PRESENT – And how serving in the military was my introduction into recruitment...

It all started with the military heritage of my family.

On June 16, 1942 the New Mexico Albuquerque Journal had a front page article with photos entitled "GIVE FIVE SONS TO THEIR COUNTRY".  The photos are those of my grandparents, on my mother's side, and their five sons (my…

Words to the Wise - Recruiter in the Balance

Words to the wise from a recruitment veteran of forty years- besides being dedicated to the recruiter's life (whatever that may mean to you) along with taking care of personal responsibilities with family, etc.--make an effort to have sideline activities such that they take you away from the rigors of recruiting (because traversing the terrain can become rigorous, even difficult).

I say this for two reasons—particularly for…

HUMAN RESOURCES AND EDUCATIONAL CRISES - Can they be averted by applying an agricultural principle?

Employers and recruiters are challenged to find and attract viable candidates for viable opportunities--now and in the future.  But we are realistic enough to know that it's going to be a tough go--even tougher if we keep going down the same roads from an educational perspective.

I was impressed with Sir Ken Robinson's brief presentation on the subject on TED...for your view and comment.  Going back to an organic agricultural theme in education may be an important option going…

A recruiter without hunger is like a cat without curiosity.

Gotta love a cat's curiosity.

It gets them into trouble as well as earns them a hunter's knowledge.

The important thing is they are constantly looking to satisfy their…

Not All Recruiters or Recruitment Agencies are Vultures...or Vampires...

Not all recruiters or recruitment agencies are vultures...or vampires for that matter.  When they cold call--they simply want to help in the recruitment challenges an employer faces.
If they appear to be stalking you as a candidate, or as an employer rep--they are simply trying to get access to interested parties, preferably decision makers--and they are 100% dedicated to a mutual benefit.

Yes, there are some bad apples; some…

An Ability to Herd Cats...May be a Preferred Capability In the Next Job Description You Read...

Do you have the patience required to herd cats?  If you do this may soon become an asset for certain employers (apparently one has actually posted that requirement in their job description).  Why?  Because patience, among other things, is a virtue, and for some future jobs—it may become an asset.

So start practicing with the family cat or look for Cat Herding Training Schools (CHTS) that may be opening in…
