First Day of work after New Year; I'm lovin it!

We all have some desires, goals, wishes whatever you say, that we keep postponing for another time, day, year or any contingent happening. But when that day comes, Are we able to justify it by our attempts or our longing for results that we wish to seek? How you pursuit them, what all steps you take to ensure you’re…

The Moments and Memories of 2012 - Looking Ahead into 2013

On December 31st, I returned to my desk at work for a short day that would see me set up several interviews, coordinate with my more active hiring managers, and still have enough time to take a moment and breathe.

In the previous week I had enjoyed some very interesting and fun AIRS training provided by the Right Thing, an ADP company where I now work having joined them less than 6 months ago.

The whirlwind end to 2012 caught me and made me just dwell on some…

2012 - Reflections on a Staffing Journey Through an Eventful Year

I needed a chance to collect my thoughts, with so much crowding in in the holiday season, with work busier than ever, and with family holiday moments seizing the stage, one must remember why they do things - and what drives us forward in our careers.

It is in this journey where you find the greatest relief, the greatest lessons, and the greatest outcomes and achievements.  Staffing isn't just about filling jobs, and having family isn't just about having relationships. …

2012 starts with a plan…..

First off, let me start by saying Happy New Year.

So the festive season is at an end and hopefully you have had your fill of fine food and wine, Christmas and the New Year has enabled you to spend quality time with your friends and family. Now we have the joy of looking ahead and getting back to reality, with this in mind we start to think of what we want from this year, our hopes and dreams i.e. winning the lottery and winning the euro millions back to back!!

And then reality…

A January Unlike Any Other - 2011 - The Year of Recruiting Success's Brightest Beacon

The time has come.  It will be a year unlike any I have seen in my life to date.  So full of hope, so full of promise, and with an incredible amount of opportunity.  This picture shows one of my favorite places in San Jose.  Belgatos Park.  It is here on a hill before you reach a San Jose Mountain known as Mt. Umuhnum, you can…

1,2,3, Ready or not here it comes 2010

11 years of recruiting for top companies has been an interesting place to grow a a solid base of knowledge. One thing that constantly amazes me is how few are true innovators and how many share a pack mentality. When setting up your recruitment program it is imperative it be multifaceted and tailored for the needs of YOUR organization. I am going to make some suggestions but hope to draw out some best practices that are working. One thing I can say is to be organizationally aware and honest… Continue

Camera, Lights, Action! - Post your New Year Video Message on #HRCarnival

You may well be aware of the HR Carnival either as a contributor or reader. The last edition was published by @MikeVanDervort on his excellent blog Human Racehorses.

I’ve always been a fan of the Vlog. That’s a video blog if you need a translation. I feel this gives you a truer feeling for the person behind the blog and for a blogger it can be a quick… Continue

A December To Remember & A New Year Full Of Promise

Recently, I gave my family as a Christmas gift a copy of my childhood journal kept from the time I was a wee lad.

I reread, and reread and as I prepared this gift it occurred to me that I have seen so many blessings this past year.

2008 will be the year I remember where I turned a corner professionally. I had all the mortar and bricks to build something great, but 2008 was where crucial life decisions, professional turning points, and a foray into and a return to staffing… Continue
