Why You May Not Be Getting Great Candidates From Your Agencies
How many times has this happened? You open a job to your agencies and they begin submitting candidates. One by one you review the résumés, separating the candidates into “yes” and “no” piles, but quickly the flow of applicants turns to a trickle and the quality of candidates seems to stagnate--or even worse--decline. Your boss and HR is pressing you to fill the position and you throw up your hands, saying, "I need better agencies.” Your first reaction may be to put the job out to more…

I’ve recently moved into the exciting world of providing Temps after a few years’ break & wow – has it changed. Not only because the Agency Workers Regulations that were introduced in October 2011 gives agency workers (temps) entitlement to the same basic employment & working conditions as if they’d been recruited directly. It’s also because I’ve noted that this ‘recession’ is scaring good, strong candidates away from leaving their ‘benefits’ to sign off & work. It was always…

This is inspired by Jerry's blog on recruiters refusing to work through HR and the rant I had in the comment section. Thanks for the idea, hope I'm not copying!
I've been working through an RPO for about 18 months now. I came from an agency background, but had always been interested in taking the leap to…

Why Recruitment Agencies Need To Become Pigs
Bear with me on this one.
It must be searingly obvious to anyone who works in recruitment that recruitment agencies (and more specifically the people therein) are receiving a lot of flak at the moment – most of it around their oafish sales tactics and their diminishing ability to deliver a viable recruitment service to either the company or the candidate.
With the advent of the Internet came a lot of predictions that it would spell the end of recruitment…

Is The Economic Rebound Slowing? How Will It Impact Your Business?
Unfortunately, just as the economy was showing signs of improving, a number of factors are causing it to weaken again. Rising food and oil prices, supply chain disruptions due to the Japanese nuclear disaster and a still-horrendous housing market are all to blame. How will it impact your business? Mostly by affecting consumers.
As oil prices have climbed more than 20% this year, high gas prices are slowing the momentum of the recent economic improvements. Gas and food inflation are…

What is “SaaS” and what can it do for your staffing company?
A rapidly growing trend for both small and large companies is the use of Software as a Service (SaaS).
SaaS provides software to customers as an on-demand service rather than the traditional method of delivery software as an on-site installation with upfront costs. Unlike traditional software licensing, where you buy a license and subsequent upgrades, SaaS typically involves yearly or monthly fees to allow access to the software. Once the end user…
