The Purr of the Iron Tiger

Today's NY Times reports on something I saw first-hand in Shanghai and Beijing: the Year of the Tiger got off to an early start and the Central Bank is trying to cool things down a bit.

What's bad news for the central bank is good news for the jobs market, at least from the candidate's perspective. From my perspective, this is good news about the recovery to come in the U.S. market,…

Has the workforce changed forever?

The evolving US economy, cyclical change, and the worldwide distribution of wealth and business have caused what some experts are claiming to be an ever changing and fluid workforce. Stability and permanence are washed away to the low cost countries beating down our doors offering value and efficiency. However with all of this, what has happened to the jobs that were to be created with stimulus? What has happened to new jobs overall? The ideas are numerous and the points of views countless on where the jobs are, when we will see them, and in some cases if we will ever see them again.

Searching for the north, the way out of this hole we have placed ourselves in is much more… Continue

Millions of Jobs to be "Created," Will We Get To Help?

I keep hearing that the current Obama administration is claiming they will create up to 3 million jobs within the next year or two. My question is, “how much of that pie can we expect to serve?”

If it’s mostly government jobs that are created, then we might miss out. If it’s private sector jobs that are created, then we could be in for a wild ride. I’m curious what others think? Which direction do you think this is headed and will we have the opportunity to be a part of… Continue
