There is nothing special about France…
Well, of course, that is not true. Plenty about France is special. Like the cheese. And the cafés. And the bread. And a delicious glass of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Or Duck Confit. Or the way a French woman can twist a scarf into the sexiest thing imaginable.
Yes, plenty of special things in France.
But not in recruitment!
My recruitment career has allowed me the tremendous privilege of running and owning recruitment businesses all over the world.…

When evaluating the success of your recruitment sourcing strategy, it’s important not to only focus on the final results in terms of time to hire and cost per hire but ultimately look at how you ultimately ended up with these results. In the end, you want to determine what strategies and sources contributed to your success and what ones were not worth your time. All so you can improve your strategy for…

On this blog, I talk a lot about measuring the performance of your recruitment ads and tying back important recruiting metrics to the recruiting source that produced the results. These metrics are important as it enables you to understand the high & low performers in your media buying strategy so you can “fire” your low performers and increase usage of your high…

Global recruiting issues
The #tru carnival is continuing this week, with events in Johannesburg on the 9′th November and CapeTown on the 11′th. I’m really looking forward to this first venture in to Africa, and to what the local recruiters will have to say about the market. We have close to 150 booked for Jo’burg and 70 for Cape Town, so it is going to be a very busy and interesting 2 days, with mostly third-party and corporate recruiters attending.
Having spoken with a number of the track leaders today…

Enough of this global talent pool talk already!
Not a single day passes by of late without hearing the dreaded words 'global talent pool', but what does that phrase actually mean in practice, if anything at all?
Consider a typical recruiting scenario. You're looking for a mid-career engineer for a specific location. There is no relocation package on offer so straight away it would be fair to assume that 99 times out of a hundred your likely candidate is going to come from a 30 or 40 mile radius of wherever the business is situated.…

The Top Staffing Companies in the World
In its March 2011 issue, Fortune magazine released its annual list of the World’s Most Admired Companies. These are the companies that have the best reputations among business people.

Thoughts from 2009

Women rule on twitter. Maren Hogan has 17,039 tweets. Shally Steckerl has only 1,227 tweets. Shally is much more visible in other forms of social media. There's something about twitter that suits Maren. She is open to sharing just about everything in her life and we just lap it up. Of course there is always someone who bucks the trend and Animal is…
