I’ve been banging on about Google+ for the last year or so and welcome Google+Communities which was added last week, as I think it is what was needed to make users become more active.

I see it as a great way for recruiters to build niche communities applying the basic of community management. Google+ is already good for sourcing as it has 500 million…

Recruiting - less is more or Some Simple Mistakes to Avoid when Trying to Fill a Tough Rec.

Here's a thought.  Less is sometimes more.  Everyone nods their heads sagely.  Of course, sometimes less is more.  It is a cliché almost to say 'less is more'.  Well if it is so blindingly obvious why do so many companies think that 'more is more' when it comes to recruiting?

What do I mean? Well . . .when companies engage an external recruiter to help them with those tough-to-fill bits of headcount that their internal recruiter can't manage why do they think that engaging with…

How to become an excellent Recruiter....Generalist or Segment specialist...

Many people think that one can recruit in any industry. Become a generalist and recruit in accounting, finance, engineering and manufacturing - it doesn't matter which industry. Just get the competitors names and start sourcing people from phone directories, switchboards and operators and we're golden! Is this really true? I guess there are some aspects to truth in this approach to headhunting but the… Continue

GO Put Your Strengths To Work - Marcus Buckingham

I saw Marcus Buckingham speak at a Willow Creek Leadership event last summer. I was surprised and delighted with his message and it was quite simple. Go do what you do really well, and stop doing anything you don't do well.

While most people view his words as inspirational yet hard to practice; I am at a unique point in my life, maybe it is the double digit 44 thing or maybe it is the 20 odd years I have spent in the staffing and recruiting space. I view his words as a call to… Continue
