What the Hell is Success Anyway?

"I want to be successful when I grow up". Isn't that what we are taught at an early age? When you are younger you aspire to do so much and achieve so many great things. You are full of vigor and stamina. You have goals, and you start knocking them down one by one. You are determined to be somebody. You are…

A word on SPLIT placements

A good percentage of my business involves split placements. I thought it would be good to take a minute and make a note of some of the principals those of us who do splits should think about. Here are a

Trainers that also run a desk

I would be interested to know which trainers or individuals giving webinars, seminars, etc. actually run a desk. Also how many placements have they made in the last couple of years. I am not counting managers running a team of hot shots making the placements but those that have made placements themselves thus training people appropriately with their proven methods.

We all need a little pep talk every once in a while, and what better way to get revved up than to see our fellow RBCer's having success.

I made a placement last week that has me on cloud nine. The lead came… Continue

Recruiter Man

Taking a little inspiration from one of my all-time favorites, I re-wrote a song to cheer up an agency friend of mine who had a string of bad luck. I realize my lyrics aren't nearly as genius as the original, but hopefully this at least brings a smile to a few faces.

It's five o'clock on a Friday

The clock watchers all punching out

My manager he walks up to me

And he looks just a bit down and out

He says, "Son, can you find me a resume?

I'm not really… Continue

Recruiting isn't about talking...

In my years as a recruiter I have found one thing to be true. Recruiting is not about talking. It is about listening.

When I first got into this industry, I was under the impression that recruiting was about being able to talk with candidates and convince them that the job I was calling about was the job for them. As I found out, it is not. It is about asking the candidate what they want. Hopefully, you've done your job sourcing and this candidate meets your requirement, but… Continue
