The Superheros of #SHRM12 was the ManPower Group (#mgshrm12)

One of the best booths at #SHRM12 (SHRM's 2012 National Conference in Atlanta) was the one powered by the Manpower Group. These superheroes were working the crowd, spreading the message and having a good time while doing it. Kudos to you superhero sirs and to Manpower for daring to do something different. Hahaha... LOVED these guys.

How to Succeed No Matter How Slammed You Are: Bridging the Gap between Management and Recruiters

By now, it’s a well-accepted fact that the job market has struggled to stabilize over the past couple of years. Job seekers – both active and passive – have hit roadblock after roadblock, and apparently, they aren’t alone. Corporate hiring managers looking to bring new talent on board are also facing their own set of…

Grandma's Chicken Soup #21: LinkedIn and Facebook in the News

It is more obvious than ever that recruiting teams have to diversify their recruitment marketing efforts. Every person I speak with has an egg timer (no pun intended) on their job board contract. Will they swear off job boards completely? Universally, they will spend less. The smart money is moving to digital recruiting through targeted advertising and social…

Grandma's Chicken Soup #20: Social Recruiting Dominates Headlines

It is more obvious than ever that recruiting teams have to diversify their recruitment marketing efforts. Every person I talk to has an egg timer (no pun intended) on their job board contract. Will they swear off job boards completely? Maybe, maybe not. Universally, they will spend less. One big board instead of two. A handful of niche boards not dozens. The smart money is moving to LinkedIn and Facebook.…

Grandma's Chicken Soup #19: Social Media Recruiting Momentum

I hope everyone had an enjoyable, safe, and restful holiday weekend. As the summer heats up, so should your recruitment marketing activities.  You don't want to be playing catch up in the fall.

Let's get right into the news of the past week.  Recruiting using social media is certainly…

Grandma's Chicken Soup #18: LinkedIn isn't the only thing in the news!

Last week was an exciting week in our industry.  LinkedIn now has a market cap of approximately 600 times its annual earnings. Expectations are lofty.  But, as I have said before, LinkedIn is not the only game in town.

The online recruitment paradigm has shifted and an organization should not put all of their eggs in…

Grandma's Chicken Soup #16: Recruitment News Served Hot!

The online recruitment paradigm has shifted.  Are you stuck in neutral?  Hopefully, some of these articles will help you shift gears and move forward.

Newspaper advertising once dominated how people searched for a job. Then the big job boards…

Grandma's Chicken Soup #15: Recruitment News Served Hot!

What a way to end a weekend...and on to recruitment news.

We are in the midst of a transition period in recruiting and recruitment advertising. Newspaper advertising once dominated how people searched for a job. Then the big job boards supplanted newspapers as the destination of choice for job-seekers looking for new opportunities. Things are changing again.…

Should HRCI Add SM Compontent to SPHR Exam

question mark2

Like many of my fellow HR professionals this week, I have been busy reading all the fantastic blog posts related to the Human Resources (un)conference November 6-8th, 2009 in Louisville, KY. I have been blown away with the take-a-ways and conversation that HR Evolution has so far generated. I was particularly intrigued by our opening and closing sessions with regard to social media.

And then I had a thought. . .…

Ami G. on Tuesday: Stack 'em high and sell 'em cheap...job postings that is

It seems the politicos at The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) have teamed up with JobTarget marketeers and are set to publish a 2009 Job Board Savings Book.

Apparently, you can use the coupons at over 1,000 niche, diversity and regional job boards that are slashing up to half the price on their job postings,… Continue

Podcast: Attendee Podcasts from the SHRM 2008 Show (Round 2)

In addition to the subject matter content expert podcast interviews from this year’s SHRM Conference, we also conducted “man [or woman] on the street” interviews with some of the attendees that stopped by the employeescreenIQ booth. Last week we posted the first few attendee interviews. Here are three more! Among the topics discussed were their thoughts and attitudes and employment screening and background checks. Our favorite responses came when we asked about the biggest resume lies they had… Continue
