LinkedIn Best Practices

LinkedIn is “the” top place for many recruiters and for many people I have met “LinkedIn” is almost equals “sourcing”. Everyone we had placed in the last year was initially contacted on LinkedIn.

We all agree on the importance of not spamming candidates and carefully reviewing their profiles before we reach out.

However, LinkedIn's nature is not fully understood by many, I think. Here's what I read on a blog post on ERE today: “Examine the resultant profile summaries…. “Red…

3 Places to start when sourcing candidates

When we talk about building a Talent Network, we speak a lot about providing a number of options and ways for candidates to opt-in to this network, whether that’s in job distribution campaigns, on the Career Site or a number of different locations.  But the second half of that equation and just as important is your recruiters / sourcers proactively sourcing candidates into your…

Sourcing in Australia

More candidates access Facebook than Linkedin. Go find em` on Facebook Mrs. or Mr. Recruiter!

Epiphany?

No new news here.

Interesting thoughts after meeting several candidates in person this week in Tokyo.  Though its officially Holidays this week in Japan - Obon Yasumi, when people go back to their hometowns to pay respect to their ancestors that have passed - I own my own boutique company with staff around the Globe who are working normal hours so no break for me.

Several candidates admitted to accessing Facebook on a daily basis, more…

Who Is Thinking of a New Career?

Q: What do many people do when they start to think about their career? A: They update their LinkedIn profile.

Up till recently tracking, which members update their profiles, was only possible for your first level connections, as an example, by subscribing to Bullhorn Reach.

It is now possible to watch for all the skills and title changes by using the LinkedIn Signal. This is available to all members and is free to…

Boolean strings and why they may not work magically for you

In the last 3 years I have become obsessively interested in social recruiting, and using social media for public relations, talent attraction and certainly passive talent sourcing.  I'm sure that any recruiter in Sydney by now has a 'cheat sheet' on their desk with a reliable and changeable search string right?  It's an unavoidable subject and I so love hearing from rookies to experienced…

LinkedIn: a List of Challenges

I love LinkedIn! It has been bringing us more matching candidates and business connections than everything else combined out there. Yet taking the full advantage of LinkedIn is not straightforward! There are numerous obstacles and misleading marketing messages, blogs, and tutorials. Some LinkedIn members…

Reflections of a Rookie Recruiter

By Jen Copley, Rookie Recruiter, Q4B

“Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand pile at school” –Robert Fulghum.

I recently graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a Communication Studies and French degree (if you need some help ordering a good wine at your favorite French restaurant, call me). Like every fresh out grad, I spent the better part of my senior year writing resumes, looking at job opportunities on Career…
