New Year’s just around the corner and this is usually the time when we bring a bunch of New Year’s resolutions. We decide to ditch unhealthy foods, go to gym, do things we haven’t done in past year, and we also decide this is the year when we’re finally going to make a step forward in our career. Obviously, ditching unhealthy foods and going to the gym don’t stand a chance.…
I’ll never forget how I was picked to be the social media expert at my first company. It was 2008 and I was working at a startup called VisualCV.com. I was hired as part of the sales team then moved to marketing when we realized we did in fact need a marketing team. Oh, startups.
Business is quite robust so far in 2014. Record-level business for me, even as a 25-year recruiter, tripling all of last year's revenues within the first 60 days. I was informed that I have a new offer coming out today, for a candidate I have known and had in my network for at least a decade, finally getting a chance to place him, and he is very excited. Another candidate for another position also successfully submitted his resignation today, and set his start…
I titled this blog first Monday primarily so I would be forced into finishing it and publishing it today. I've been meaning to blog for months now, and still have several unfinished works in progress sitting in my RBC drafts. So, in the spirit of my new year commitment to blog weekly (and to test the theory that I work best under pressure), I figured I'd start this Monday Musings blog about nothing in particular and everything in general.
I looked back and pulled the Bow up to my ear and pulled back the string as far as it would go, it was a bright sunny day in the Sierra Nevada Mountains with my heart and mind tuned to nature as never before for 2 weeks of fun. As I pulled the bow string back I let fly the arrow that found it's mark…

Happy 2010! With the turn of a new year and decade, many people set resolutions which commonly revolve around fitness and health. I, like everyone else, have a few of those, but have also been thinking about my career goals and what I would like to accomplish professionally in 2010.
In the last year the business world continued its exposure on social networking sites such as Twitter and… Continue
It was an ugly, painful year. I haven’t talked to a single job board owner – not one – who saw revenue declines of less than 35 to 70 percent. Many had to lay off employees, cut benefits, or otherwise pull back. They weren’t alone, of course – almost every aspect of our economy (Goldman Sachs excepted) has suffered.
So, we’re agreed – 2009 sucked. But surely we learned a few things, right? Hmmm….
1. Bailouts are for banks, not job boards (unless you’re Monster in… Continue
You’re off to the big conference, your booth is ready and the iPhone is charged but do you know how to utilize Twitter to squeeze every possible opportunity out of this conference?
1. Identify Yourself!
Any technology conference that is not held out of someone’s garage will have a hashtag associated with it. Hashtags make your tweets more easily searchable and let readers know what content your tweet will include. Confused? Search #hrtech on Twitter or twitterfall.com and… Continue

I don't know about you, but I've been looking forward to 2009 for the last few months. I'm always excited entering a New Year - it's like starting all over again in many ways, which makes this year even more highly anticipated. Since my birthday falls in early January (the 5th), I am full year older at the start of every New Year.
It is the end of the calendar year, and though MBA recruiting in general has followed the market’s downward trend this season, MBA Focus has grown in almost every aspect of the industry.
