Nothing bugs me more than entering a comment only to find the blog is moderated and my comment must be approved.
Do you want conversation? If so - conversation is the free flow of dialogue. That means - you say something, I say something, you reply, I reply and so on.
If you moderate your blog here - it more or less says "I am here to tell you what I think" which is not the way a thriving community continues to grow.
Thank you.
Helen - you are talking about your company blog right? Not here on the RBC? W/. regards to spam bots?
Comment by Helen Burbank (Appleby) on March 29, 2012 at 9:20am Yes, it is very spam-bot free here.
Whew - work hard daily to keep it that way ; ) Good to see and hear from you as always. Now back to the discussion at hand.....
Comment by Jerry Albright on March 29, 2012 at 9:26am Helen - the thing here is I replied with a comment that didn't agree with the blanked premise - or statistic in the blog. It was not approved.
Comment by Helen Burbank (Appleby) on March 29, 2012 at 9:33am Yes, well, that is another story and I am on your side on that one. Seriously defeats the purpose of a comment section if people cannot (respectfully) disagree.
Comment by Jerry Albright on March 29, 2012 at 9:35am I guess in this particular case - we are encouraged to (respectfully) agree......:)
Comment by Bob McIntosh on March 29, 2012 at 4:15pm Jerry,
I have no problem disagreeing on figures and facts or opinions. I have a problem when someone who isn't present to defend himself is slandered by you. To me this isn't a discussion; it's an attack on an individual.
Bob
Comment by Bill Schultz on March 29, 2012 at 4:24pm So the reason you moderated from the beginning is that you expected Jerry's "attack?"
Comment by Jerry Albright on March 29, 2012 at 4:34pm Sorry, Bob - but slander? If you're referring my comment on your blog (which led me to this topic) regarding Dan Schwable - you might be mistaken in my intent. I find him to be so full of himself it's laughable. But slander? I think not. Sorry you came to a discussion place - not prepared for a discussion.
I will allow you to post any kind of comment you want. This topic is not moderated. Your views do not have to be the same as mine. You can even slander anyone you'd like. That's what "discussion" and "community" are all about.
But you won't find much discussion on your topics until you open them up. That's all I'm saying.
Comment by Amy Ala on March 29, 2012 at 5:13pm So what was the comment Jer? :) About Dan Schwable...
