After a nice nap, I dressed for the party and raced downstairs to meet the waiting vans. RecruitngBlogs arranged for large passenger vans to take attendees to Jason and Michelle's house for a nice dinner party, poker tourney and more party...

We arrived in style and were ready to chow down. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and good times were waiting for a crowd of happy and now well-armed recruiters. The day of shared information definitely prepared us to let our hair down (or put it up) and close the gap between colleagues and friends. Bright conversation and mood music filled a home that was graciously shared. It was soon time to hunker down, hit the cards at two poker tables and try to bet our way into the RBC Hall of Fame. The opportunity to play poker with some "stars," as well as participate in a charity event was too sweet to pass up. I had a great time bluffing and folding between Dan Brekka and John Sumser as our evening of Texas Hold 'Em ran its course. As luck (and SKILL Jason!) would have it, I held out to finish fifth and loved every minute of it.
Part Trois of RecruitFest sealed friendships and allowed us to see each other in a more human light. Leaning on Julia Stone and Penny Goodman as we became the lone "ladies" at the leader table was fun and let me tell you: these gals will knock your socks off and insult you with a smile! (all in great fun, of course!) Erika VH held her own as a poker virgin, as did David J... Jerry Albright and Dan Brekka dueled it out to the bitter sweet end... Jerry became the biggest of the losers ( I think he used a similar term in the chat yesterday) as he finished in the number 2 spot and Dan rode off in the sunset! Getting to know both of these gentlemen a little better was a joy and I relish the chance to challenge them again...
I missed the magician because I was at the poker table most of the night but I heard he was incredible and a bright spot for the evening..., A little dancing took place, great music provided by Jerry Albright and then an amazing thing happened... a song ended but the drumming continued. My curiosity aroused, I had to find the source of the LOUD drumming- after all the drumming circle had started the day... maybe it was going to end the night---
I found Jason in his basement pounding away on a drum set and get this: he was good... I found a bongo and joined in. Pretty soon Brian Jaeger moved on to the drums, Jason moved to guitar and a shaker was found, then a tambourine, Jerry Albright showed up and alternately played bass and guitar- then Jason moved to the piano and Craig Silverman grabbed a mic and in his "smooth" way crooned his way around the basement. Adam Peterson found his way to the drum set, Brian picked up the acoustic guitar, Jason on electric and Jerry on bass and Julia Stone started tickling a few ivories... it was fantastic! Soon the basement was full of impromptu music, singers, dancers, and "lurkers."

"RBC, easy as One, Two, Three..."
Unions were forged and cemented.
Ask me sometime about the cab ride back to the hotel... ;-)
